Valery, RW1AU, is on work assignment in Nairobi, Kenya, and signing 5Z4/RW1AU. Val has official approval to operate and has formal Kenyan telecom authority documentation. Val is as active as his schedule allows and is operating from the 5Z4RS Club Station. At the moment, pile-ups are on SSB only, until he can find a keyer. But Val is an accomplished CW op and is looking forward to a mix of phone & CW operation for the next several months, and will be as active as possible during his stay.

Quit nice qso RS 55 16.08.2008 14.45GMT SSB 14MHz to Karijoki village in Finland. I will send my qsl to K5XK, it would also be nice to meet in CW mode. I used 100W trap dipole at 6m height and my older rig KW TS430S.

Valery, 5Z4/RW1AU, continues to be quite active from Nairobi. Currently 20M SSB only, but a keyer is enroute, and if it arrives safely, Val will be very QRV on CW in the near future. The keyer will remain at the 5Z4RS club station for others to use, after his departure. Since Val is on a temporary work assignment, it is not known how long how long he will be in Kenya.
Val will reply to eQSL requests, and should have his LoTW documentation completed soon. QSL via RW1AU’s instructions on QRZ.com; Val’s QSL manager, K5XK, has a new address, which is also OK on QRZ.com. Printed color QSLs are being printed and will be mailed out within the next 2-3 weeks.
Look for Val on weekends, and periodically on weeknights, after work (after 15:00 UTC).

Valery, 5Z4/RW1AU, reports that a keyer has arrived from friends in the
U.S., so look for him to be QRV on CW soon from the 5Z4RS Club Station
in Nairobi. Until now, Val has been 100% SSB. Val is as active as
possible during his work assignment in Kenya—at night and on weekends.

I was able to work 5Z4/RW1AU while operating picnic table portable on solar charged battery power 35 watts from a Chicago city park. This contact completes my low power WAC, all with no help from the sunspots! This was a great contact. Thank you, Val.

Valery, 5Z4/RW1AU, is now QRT from Nairobi, and is back home in St. Petersburg.
His work assignment spanned almost one year, from August ??08 through June 2009. During that period, Val used the 5Z4RS Club Station in Nairobi as time allowed between work responsibilities to make almost 12,000 QSOs on 40-10M, using both CW & SSB modes.
QSL Info Update: Direct QSLs are now OK to Valery??s home address below, but cards to RW1AU will also be responded-to via the bureau.
