GLORIOSO 2008 ( May/June)

Access to the islands can only be done with the military already in place. This operation is expected to take place between 1st May and June 30, 2008.
A reinforced team of 5 to 8 operators, with more equipment if possible, will activate this rare island thanks to the authorisation of the armed forces under the high authority of major general Dominique ROYAL, commander of the French Signals and Graduate Studies School of Rennes, and with the green light of general Bruno CUCHE, chief of staff of the Army and general de Saint-Salvy, Chief of Staff Army for the South Indian Ocean zone.
Our host on the islands will be the Foreign Legion; there is no doubt this will be another exciting expedition.
On our way then to the CDXC GLORIOSO 2008 expedition ! ! !

Hi friends
This is the only one OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE for GLORIOSOS 2008.
Didier, F5OGL, team leader communicates to the DX list managed by Maurice, F5NQL:
The Glorieuses 2008 dxpedition has to be postponed for some weeks.
The High Commandment for the Indian Ocean south zone (French Forces) announced us that important works of infrastructure have to be built on the island.
During two and a half months, starting at the beginning of June, anti-cyclonic shelters will be built to protect, if necessary, in the future, the military crews working there and some other important pieces of gear, used for the meteorological and forecast activities.
Because of the important number of persons who will stay at the same time, on the island, we decided in agreement with the Commandment of the Indian Ocean south zone Forces, to postpone this Dxpedition after the end of these works.
The exact dates always remain to be defined according to the operational plannings of the military transport in this region.
We hope some good news allowing us to go to the Glorieuses at the end September or the beginning of October.
This new delay will be used by the crew to perfect the preparations.
We already thank all of you who contribute to the realization of this project, and first the Military Authorities of the Reunion island, as well as the financial and material sponsors.
The authorisations are not cancelled at all.
