Turkmenistan Ham Activity

Was reading an article on the OK1RR website about the status of Amateur Radio in Turkmenistan. Amateur Radio in EZ was suspended by the Ministry of Communications in mid 2006. It appears this is still the case.

An email can be sent  to the Turkmenistan Ministry of Communications requesting the authorization of legal Turkmenistan Amateur Radio ops (EZ stations). It’s important to mention the part amateur radio can play during emergencies etc.

YK9SV – Syria (Arwad Island AS186)

Further to this post, I notice the YK9SV team now have a new website.

Within the YK9SV website, the team ask whether Arwad is either a new island (IOTA) for you, or is YK (Syria) actually a new country (DXCC) to work? For me, it’s both.

I’m thinking US readers/DXers often have difficulty with this path. Have a read of the YK9SV survey and see if you can help the guys out..

Wishing YK9SV the best of luck and many QSO’s ;)
